- J2K-Codec
J2K-Codec is a software component, developed to be as easy to deploy as possible.
It was started as a replacement for the
JasPer codec, because JasPer is too slow and complicated.J2K-Codec supports a limited, most commonly used, sub-set of
JPEG2000 standard (Part 1). Despite its name (reflecting the future plans), it is still only a decoder, not a fullcodec . There is also a 16-bit version available that can decode 16-bit JPEG2000 images.J2K-Codec is significantly faster than non-commercial JPEG2000 implementations (see the comparison graph on the site). Plus, lots of samples for various programming languages (
C++ , C#,VisualBasic ,VB.NET , etc.) in its package make the deployment very easy.Currently, only Windows OS are supported, but future development plans include porting J2K-Codec to
PocketPC andLinux .External links
