Bimal Kaur Khalsa

Bimal Kaur Khalsa was the wife of Beant Singh, one of the two assassins of Indira Gandhi.

She was a nurse at Lady Hardinge Medical College when Indira Gandi was assassinated by her husband [http://www.preventgenocide.org/prevent/news-monitor/2003mar.htm Playing at Grown-Ups FEAR has been their childhood companion] . Immediately after the assassination of Indira Gandhi, she disappeared for several days leaving her children Amrit, Sarabjeet and Jassi at home.

Bimal Kaur Khalsa was later arrested and imprisoned for two years for an incendiary speech in a gurdwara.

In 1986, she led a rampaging group of militants attacking the guards at the Golden Temple [SIKHS SOUGHT IN SLAYING, NYTimes June 6, 1986] . A guard was killed and seven people were injured.

Later she was elected a member of Lok Sabha from Ropar. She slipped and fell to her death in 1991.

The Damdami Taksal paid for her children's education for two years.
