Primetime 24

Primetime 24

Primetime 24 is a special package offered on C-Band cable sent out to viewers who mainly live in Latin America, the Caribbean, and very rural areas of the United States and Canada, although many urban areas can receive the package as well. The package consists of local ABC, CBS, and NBC affiliates on the East Coast, although for a time, West Coast ABC, CBS, and NBC affiliates were included as well.

When Primetime 24 first started, Fox affiliates were included as well-- originally, the group of WABC-TV in New York City for ABC, WBBM-TV in Chicago for CBS, WXIA in Atlanta for NBC, and WFLD in Chicago for Fox were involved. In 1994, however, the two Chicago stations were replaced with WRAL-TV in Raleigh for CBS and WSVN in Miami for Fox, but by 1997, Fox affiliation was dropped, and WRAL, due to many pre-emptions of CBS programming, was replaced with WSEE in Erie, and has been Primetime 24's CBS affiliate ever since. WABC and WXIA still remain the ABC and NBC (respectively) affiliates for Primetime 24 as well, however, for a time, WABC was replaced with WJLA in Washington, D.C. and later WKRN in Nashville, and WXIA was replaced with WNBC in New York City.

Also, a package called "The Denver Five" was included at one point. It consisted of KMGH (the ABC affiliate), KCNC (the CBS affiliate), KUSA-TV (the NBC affiliate), KDVR (the Fox affiliate), and KRMA (the PBS affiliate).

As mentioned earlier, stations on the West Coast were also included in the late '90s and early 2000s. It consisted of KOMO-TV in Seattle for ABC, KPIX in San Francisco for CBS, and KNBC in Los Angeles for NBC.

A similar channel called Primestar also had local stations, in addition to using national PBS feeds. East Coast channels included WSB-TV from Atlanta for ABC, WUSA from Washington, D.C. for CBS, WHDH from Boston for NBC, and WTXF from Philadelphia for Fox. West Coast channels included KABC-TV from Los Angeles for ABC, KOIN from Portland for CBS, KCRA from Sacramento for NBC, and KTVU from San Francisco for Fox.
