Steps in Time was the 1984 debut album by the English Coventry band King, released on CBS label. Although lasting just two years and a half, King had five UK Top 40 hit songs, including two Top 10 hits: "Love & Pride" (#2), the re-release of their debut single from the first album, and "Alone With You" (#8) from their second album "Bitter Sweet" (after that, the lead singer Paul King went on to start a brief solo career, releasing one more album, "Joy"). After the very first single "Love & Pride", a second single was taken out of their debut long playing, namely "Won't You Hold My Hand Now", which got to Number 24 in the UK. A live videoclip was also realized for "Trouble", and aired by MTV, but the song never came out as a single. Popular album tracks were the opener "Fish" and "Cherry" too.

Due to the huge success of the record, the tape edition of the LP was soon re-released with eight bonus tracks, including B-Sides, previously unreleased songs and some remixes, among which "Love & Pride (Body & Soul Mix)" and "Won't You Hold My Hand Now (Heavy Times Mix)".
