Its seat is the town of Borne Sulinowo, which lies approximately convert|19|km|mi|0 south-west of Szczecinek and convert|131|km|mi|0|abbr=on east of the regional capital Szczecin.

The gmina covers an area of convert|484.24|km2|sqmi|1, and as of 2006 its total population is 9,230 (out of which the population of Borne Sulinowo amounts to 4,224, and the population of the rural part of the gmina is 5,006).
