Captain Sir Arthur Henderson Young C.M.G.,
G.C.M.G. , was born in 1854. Married in 1885 with Marquis of Ailsa.Education
He was educated at
Edinburgh Academy andSandhurst .Career
He joined the 27th Inniskillings as a sub-lieutenant, and entered the Colonial Service in 1878. He first appointed the Commandant of the Military Police of Cyprus.
The next 27 years, he spent in the colony, holding successively the positions of Assistant Commissioner at Paphos, later the Commissioner of Paphos, Commissioner of Famagusta, Director of Survey and Forest Officer and Chief Secretary to the Government of Cyprus.
For the six months in 1895, and for lesser periods in 1898, 1900 and 1904, he administered the Government of Cyprus. In 1902, he went on a special mission to St. Vincent (West Indies). He posted as the Colonial Secretary of the Straits Settlements in 1906 until he became the High Commissioner in Malaya and the Governor of Straits Settlement.
