Its seat is the town of Bojanowo, which lies approximately convert|13|km|mi|0 north-west of Rawicz and convert|79|km|mi|0|abbr=on south of the regional capital Poznań.

The gmina covers an area of convert|123.5|km2|sqmi|1, and as of 2006 its total population is 8,938 (out of which the population of Bojanowo amounts to 3,014, and the population of the rural part of the gmina is 5,924).
