Scott Slifka

Scott Slifka

Scott Slifka (born Robert Scott Slifka, March 5, 1974 in Chicago, Illinois) is an American politician and the current mayor of West Hartford, Connecticut. Running as a Democrat, he was elected to the town council in 2001 and 2003, and was elected mayor in 2004 and subsequently reelected in 2005 and 2007. His current term ends in 2009.

Slifka was raised in West Hartford and attended George Washington University and the George Washington University Law School. He served as chief-of-staff for Connecticut Secretary of State Susan Bysiewicz. In 2006 he ran unsuccessfully for Lieutenant Governor of Connecticut, losing in the Democratic primary.

In July 2008, Hartford Magazine named Slifka one of Greater Hartford's 50 Most Influential People.
