Jānis Intenbergs (born
April 01 ,1959 ) is a Latvian football manager and a former football forward who played for the top Latvian clubs in 1980s.Playing career
Intenbergs is considered one the all time greatest footballers from
Liepāja . A goal-eager striker, for the most part of his career as a player he played in his hometown of Liepāja and at this time he was the most popular player on theZvejnieks Liepāja team. In his most successful season for Zvejnieks in 1984 Intenbergs scored 28 goals in 35 games (second result in the league, more than half of the teams goals). In seven seasons he was the best goalscorer for Zvejnieks, he also played two seasons forFK Daugava Rīga winning the first Soviet league and participating in playoffs for a place in the top division of Soviet football [http://www.klisf.info/numeric/index.app?cmd=ln&lang=ru&id=079583426465736 Intenbergs' statistics in Soviet leagues] . In Daugava Intenbergs wasn't the main offensive force as it already had two very good forwards inAleksandrs Starkovs andJevgeņijs Miļevskis .In 1987 Intenbergs was back in Liepāja. Olsztyn andOlimpia Elbląg .
