GMX Mail Features
GMX Mail is an advertising-free webmail application including 5 GB e-mail storage, professional virus and spam protection as well as POP3 and IMAP access. Other features include a Mail Collector service to bundle various mail addresses into the GMX account, 1 GB of file storage, an organizer and an address book.E-mail names are available for the domains @gmx.com, @gmx.co.uk or @gmx.us, while it is possible to change an e-mail name afterward. The service allows up to 10 e-mail addresses which all forward to one's mailbox.
GMX's webmail service features an ad-free interface with "
drag and drop " organization of e-mails. It is compatible with Windows,Linux andMac OS X usingInternet Explorer or Firefox. A proprietary “mail collector” allows collection of mails from 3rd party accounts in a single mailbox. There is also an address book for online contact management, as well as an integrated online organizer supporting data transfer from other digital calendars such as Microsoft Outlook and Google. 1GB of file storage is offered to store and share photos, MP3s and other files.GMX provides support for POP3/SMTP and IMAP to use with e-mail programs (e.g. Microsoft Outlook, Thunderbird, Outlook Express, and Windows Mail) or read and write e-mails with mobile devices. All of these services are in English and currently available free of charge. As a future outlook, it is likely that either advertising or additional fee-based services will be added.Since GMX FreeMail has always (for more than ten years) been free of charge in Europe, the webmail service is expected to remain free of charge as well.
GMX Mail does not work with all browsers; depending on the processor speed of the user’s computer the pages may load rather slowly. Other criticism has come from users who like the intuitive functionality, but expect even more customary desktop features.
