1912 Democratic National Convention

1912 Democratic National Convention

The 1912 Democratic National Convention was held in Baltimore from June 25 to July 2, 1912. The primary candidates were House Speaker Champ Clark of Missouri and Governor Woodrow Wilson of New Jersey. Clark entered the contest with a majority of the delegates behind him, but without the two thirds majority necessary to secure the nomination. After a long deadlock, former Democratic presidential candidate William Jennings Bryan threw his support to Wilson, giving him the nomination on the 46th ballot.
