Lishan Perera (born July 3, 1994) is a teenage novelist. One of the youngest published authors in the world his novels, namely "The Killer", "Time to Die" and "Pure Evil" are available in over a dozen countries including Sri Lanka, Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Vietnam and BruneiFact|date=August 2008.

His fourth book, a collection of short stories titled "No Second Chance" is planned to be published in late 2008.

Biography

An only child, Lishan Perera wrote his first short story at the age of six about a "rabbit who went to the moon". In the next six years he penned numerous short stories and poems, his essay "Lost" was published in his school magazine.

In December 2006, Perera published his debut novel "The Killer", which was influenced by authors such as James Patterson and R.L. Stine, making him a published novelist at the age of twelve.

In July 2007 Perera's second publication "Time to Die", a 302 page action thriller was released, gaining mainly positive reviews from both fans and criticsFact|date=August 2008.

His third novel "Pure Evil", "a twisted tale of love, betrayal and murder"Fact|date=August 2008 in which protagonist Sandra Bates suddenly finds herself battling for her life, was published merely a month later in August.

Perera's short story "In the Hands of Fate" was also selected to be published in a "Daily News" Anthology titled "Nothing Grows Under the Banyan Tree" in October 2007.

In May 2008, the young writer, whose popularity was fast growing, was invited speak a panelist in a disntinguished forum at the World Book Fair, about the trials and tribulations he had faced as a novelist.

Furthermore, Perera has been featured in various local and foreign newspapersFact|date=August 2008, including The Daily Mirror, The Daily News, The Sunday Times and The Straits Times and is a regular columnist for the popular teenage magazine "Chokolaate".

It was confirmed that his latest project, "No Second Chance", a collection of short stories based in Sri Lanka, will be released in November 2008.

A student of the Colombo International School, he lives in Colombo with his family.
