Its seat is the town of Radomyśl Wielki, which lies approximately convert|16|km|mi|0 south-west of Mielec and convert|56|km|mi|0|abbr=on west of the regional capital Rzeszów.

The gmina covers an area of convert|159.64|km2|sqmi|1, and as of 2006 its total population is 13,641 (out of which the population of Radomyśl Wielki amounts to 2,912, and the population of the rural part of the gmina is 10,729).
