Its seat is the town of Iwonicz Zdrój, which lies approximately convert|13|km|mi|0 south of Krosno and convert|54|km|mi|0|abbr=on south of the regional capital Rzeszów.

The gmina covers an area of convert|45.5|km2|sqmi|1, and as of 2006 its total population is 10,945 (out of which the population of Iwonicz Zdrój amounts to 1,891, and the population of the rural part of the gmina is 9,054).
