Keegan DeWitt

Keegan DeWitt (born April 8, 1982) is a film composer, singer-songwriter and actor raised in the Portland, OR suburb of Lake Oswego.

High School and College

Keegan attended Pacific Crest Community School in Portland where he met and became friends with Aaron Katz. They made a series of short films together and continued to collaborate while Katz attended the North Carolina School of the Arts and DeWitt attended SUNY Purchase (Film Conservatory) in New York. He would also go on to attend The Atlantic Theater Company (Acting Conservatory), founded by David Mamet. He has been an avid Portland Trail Blazers fan since youth.

Film Composing & Recording Career

This relationship led Keegan to compose the score for two New York Times "Critic's Picks", "Dance Party USA" and "Quiet City", both written and directed by Katz. These films were both featured premieres at the South by Southwest Film Festival and part of the hyped "Mumblecore" movement. Reviews for the films often singled out Keegan's contributions and as a result he finds himself currently in demand as a composer in the independent film world.

Keegan has also self-released three records via his label Dual Coast Recording Company. Those titles are "Songs From The Byrd Chorus" (2003), "Keegan DeWitt & The Sparrows" (2006) and the upcoming "Islands" (2008). The last two titles were mixed and co-produced by Chris Stamey.

He is also related to Timshel, Skip and Logan Matheny, all members of V2 Records rock music group Roman Candle and can be found playing guitar on their debut album "The Wee Hours Revue".

Acting career

Keegan also attended the Atlantic Theater Company (Acting Conservatory) and has appeared in both "Quiet City" and the upcoming independent film "Luke and Brie Are on a First Date".
