Second Henderson Ministry

Second Henderson Ministry

The Second Henderson Ministry is the current ministry in the Northern Territory, Australia, and the 51st overall. It came into place on November 30, 2007, replacing an interim ministry that had been sworn in following the resignation of Chief Minister Clare Martin to cover the transition to new Chief Minister Paul Henderson. The new ministry saw significant changes from the final Martin ministry, largely due to the decision of Martin and Deputy Chief Minister Syd Stirling to retire to the backbenches. Marion Scrymgour was appointed Deputy Chief Minister in Stirling's place, with Delia Lawrie being appointed Treasurer, a position also previously held by Stirling. The changes also saw the promotion of Mathew Bonson and former Deputy Speaker Len Kiely to the ministry. The latter appointment was the cause of some controversy, as Kiely had been forced to resign as Deputy Speaker in 2006 after a sexual harassment incident.
