Bar
A bar or second receiving of the Star of Courage may be awarded with proper circumstances. Since July 1993, no bars have been awarded. The subsequent awarding is indicated by the wearing of a gold bar bearing a gold maple leaf in the center.
Medal
A silver star with four points. A maple leaf is in each of the angles. The star is convert|1.5|in|mm across. The center of the obverse is a golden maple leaf with a golden
laurel wreath surrounding it. The reverse upper arm has theRoyal Crown with the Royal Cypher (EIIR) below, and below that, the word COURAGE. The recipient's name and date of the incident are engraved below the word COURAGE.Ribbon
The light red, or crimson, ribbon is convert|1.25|in|mm wide; with two blue stripes (0.1875" wide and 1.125" from each edge). A gold maple leaf is worn on the he ribbon in undress if a bar is awarded.
