- Snecma Silvercrest
The Snecma Silvercrest is a
turbofan currently under development which will be manufactured bySnecma .Announced at the 2006
NBAA conventioncite news|url=http://www.safran-group.com/article.php3?id_article=1481&lang=en |title=SILVERCREST: a new name in propulsion for business aviation |publisher=SAFRAN |date=2006-10-17 |accessdate=2008-01-02] . The engine was originally designed as a 8,500- to 10,500-pound thrust turbofanhttp://www.ainonline.com/airshow-convention-news/singapore-air-show/single-publication-story/browse/0/article/snecma-develops-new-bizav-engine/?no_cache=1&tx_ttnews%5Bmode%5D=1|accessdate=2008-05-26] to power super mid-size to large cabin business jets or 40 to 60-seat regional jets with a MTOW between 45,000 and 60,000 lbcite news|url=http://www.safran-group.com/article.php3?id_article=1732&lang=en |title=Snecma Announces Silvercrest Core demonstrator First Parts Delivered |publisher=SAFRAN |date=2007-05-22 |accessdate=2008-01-02] . Since original development the thrust range has been raised and is currently quoted as 9,500 to 12,000 pounds of thrust. The engine architecture includes a solid wide-chord swept fan without booster, followed by a 4 axial stage + 1 centrifugal stage high pressure compressor. The overall pressure ratio is 27:1 with a core pressure ratio of "over 17". The high pressure compressor is driven by a single stage turbine, while the 40 inch fan is coupled to a 3-stage low pressure turbine.
The high pressure spool and combustor have been run in a core-demonstrator reaching the take-off speed of 20,300rpmcite news|url=http://www.ainonline.com/airshow-convention-news/singapore-air-show/single-publication-story/article/snecma-silvercrest-engine-completes-core-tests/|title=Snecma Silvercrest engine completes core tests|author=Thierry Dubois|accessdate=2008-05-26] . A full engine demonstrator is due to run towards the end of 2008, while engine certification is pencilled in for the end of 2010 or early 2011cite news|url=http://www.ainonline.com/news/single-news-page/article/snecma-silvercrest-core-engine-set-for-first-run/?no_cache=1&cHash=38aef1a330 |title=Snecma Silvercrest core engine set for first run |publisher=AINonline.com |author=Thierry Dubois |date=

As of january 2008, no aircraft manufacturer had selected this engine.Turbomeca , which like Snecma is a part of theSAFRAN Group, participates in the design of the centrifugal compressor stage.Specifications
