Oratorian Joseph Valla , six volumes of "Institutiones theologicæ". These were known as "Théologie de Lyon", and were spread throughout Italy byScipio de’ Ricci ,bishop of Pistoia and Prato , until condemned by the Index in 1792. Contrary to thepapal bull ofPope Pius V on theBreviary , Montazet changed the text of the Breviary and theMissal . The later efforts ofPope Pius IX andCardinal Bonald to suppress the innovations of Montazet provoked resistance on the part of the canons, who defended the traditional Lyonnese ceremonies.
