Landaluce Stakes

The Landaluce Stakes is an American Thoroughbred horse race run at Hollywood Park Racetrack for two-year-old filles usually around the Fourth of July. It’s set at six furlongs in the dirt and offers a purse of $100,000 added.

This ungraded stakes is named for Landaluce (by Seattle Slew), the posthumous American Champion Two-Year-Old Filly of 1982, who died at the age of two after five wins in five starts by a combined margin of 46 1/2 lengths. The Hollywood Lassie Stakes was renamed the Landaluce Stakes in her honor. In the Hollywood Lassie, Landaluce's time of 1:08 is thought to be the fastest clocking ever for a juvenile filly in a one turn six furlong race.

Up until 2004, the Landaluce was a Grade III event.

Landaluce won this race in 1982 when it was still called the Hollywood Lassie Stakes and was a Grade II event.
