James Edward Wright (born 1939) is a historian and currently the sixteenth president of Dartmouth College, an Ivy League university in Hanover, New Hampshire. He has served in this position since 1998, and has been a member of the Dartmouth faculty since 1969. In February 2008, it was announced that he would step down as President in June 2009.
