Río Chira (motor vessel)

Río Chira from 1925 to 1928 was the name of a motor vessel with a tonnage of 199 gt.

Originally delivered in 1914 from Kaldnes Patentslip & Mek. Verksted, in Tønsberg as whale catcher "Viking II", it was in 1925 transferred to Cia Ballenera del Peru Ltda, Callao, Peru and renamed "Rio Chira".

In 1928 it was purchased by Hvalfanger-I/S Praia Amelia, Haugesund, Norway in 1928 and renamed "Angola". In World War II the Kriegsmarine requisitioned the vessel as "NS 09 Sindbad" and stationed it as "guard boat" in Stavanger.

The vessel sank in 1983 near Svartskjær off Harstad.
