- Hessen-Pokal
The Hessen-Pokal is a Group 3 flat horse race in
Germany for three-year-old and abovethoroughbred s. It is run over a distance of 2,000 metres (approximately 1¼ miles) atFrankfurt Racecourse ,Frankfurt in November.It was first run in 1967 as the Concentra-Pokal with a distance of 2,550 metres. This was cut to 2,500 metres in 1971 and to 2,000 metres in 1974. It has continued at this distance with the exceptions of 1999 and 2000, when it was extended to 2,050 metres.
The race attained Group 3 status in 1973, upgrading briefly to Group 2 for 1987 and 1988, and then reverting to Group 3 in 1989. Known at times as the Frankfurt-Pokal and the Frankfurt Cup, the race was traditionally run in July before it was rescheduled in 2006 to take place in November.
