Look Afraid [ [http://www.lookafraid.com MySpace.com - LOOK AFRAID - ROXFORD, Ohio - Rock / Rock / Rock - www.myspace.com/lookafraid ] ] is an Ohio based rock band formed in 2007. They won the international competition called Famecast in December 2007.

History

In early 2007 the beginnings of a band were formed by Alex Nauth and Mat Franklin previously of Sofapunch [ [http://www.sofapunch.com Sofapunch: The Official Site ] ] [ [http://fire.absolutepunk.net/artists/showlink.php?catid=newlinks&l=3167 SOFAPUNCH - Profile - AbsolutePunk.net ] ] (a lesser known ska band with mild Ohio exposure). Alex "Lex Vegas" Mosie was called in to play drums, he had filled in with Franklin and Nauth for previous projects and was a close personal friend of the two. The story goes that Lex was on a trip to West Virginia when Franklin called him saying "How would you like today to be the first day of the rest of your life?" which he agreed was a good idea. Mike Ulanski who was playing in a local gutter punk band called The Proles became the original lead guitarist. For awhile there was no stable bass player so Mike suggested that Sam who was playing bass in his other band audition and he soon became the permanent bassist. Mike's ambition became too different for Nauth and Franklin who found themselves butting heads creatively with Ulanski and mutual friend/guitarist Cole Walsh-Davis was asked to step in for Ulanski. Mike parted on good terms and is still a close personal friend of the band's. Cole became the necessary part to push Look Afraid into a fast paced creative force. They are now growing extremely fast.

In December 2007 they won a national competition called Famecast. Aaron Burgess of Spin Magazine was at their performance in Austin Texas in which they won the competition and called them "A Badass Rock Band" [ [http://www.famecast.com FAMECAST - Show The World Your Talent And Win ] ] (can be seen in print beneath the live performance video). At this moment they are unsigned but are in talks with various labels about representation and are working on a promotional EP to ride on the recent buzz they are creating. Legendary poster artist Jeff Gaither also did poster design for a series of Halloween shows that was featured on the cover of local Oxford paper the Amusement
