Robert Hiester Montgomery was an influential accountant and educator, which is surprising for his lack of a formal education, having not even completed high school.
He was president of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants for two two-year terms, starting in 1912 and again in 1935.
He is author of numerous books on auditing and taxation including "Auditing Theory and Practice", a bestseller originally published in 1912 which has since gone through at least 11 editions.
