Its seat is the village of Jabłonka, which lies approximately convert|24|km|mi|0 west of Nowy Targ and convert|67|km|mi|0|abbr=on south of the regional capital Kraków.

The gmina covers an area of convert|213.28|km2|sqmi|1, and as of 2006 its total population is 16,910.
