Argeliers is a commune in the Aude department in Languedoc-Roussillon in southern France. [ [http://www.lion1906.com/Regions/languedoc-roussillon/Departements/aude/argeliers_110012.php lion1906.com] ] Located to the southern edge of the Haut-Minervois and in the north of the fertile sedimentary plain of Narbonne, Argeliers is bordered to the east by the Canal du Midi where there are mooring facilities known as Port d'Argeliers. Its inhabitants are known as Argeliésois.

Notable people

*Marcelin Albert, leader of the 1907 Languedoc wine-makers uprising, was born in 1851 in Argeliers. [ [http://www.midiphotobank.com/20070516.html?id=4520 1907 Uprising Exhibition] ] He died in 1921 and is buried in the cemetery in the village. A village square is named in his honour.
