Brule, Nova Scotia is a community west of New Glasgow on the
Northumberland Strait , in north-centralNova Scotia .Brule is famous for its fossil discoveries, of about 290 mya, in the late
Triassic or earlyJurassic Period. An Interpretive Centre contains examples of the fossils.Brule fossil forest
The Brule fossil forest is composed of the ancient tree species: "
Walchia sp." The forest contains fallen logs, as well as about 90in-situ -(standing) tree trunks, and leaflets or branch fossils. The 'Brule Forest' is the only example of standing trees, or in-situ tree-trunks of "Walchia".Four-footed,
tetrapod animalfossil trackway s are also found in the fossil rich rocks.There is a museum in Tatamagouche displaying these fossils, called the Brule Fossil Center.
