Mexico City in1982 . Their music is a fusion of rock, cumbia , and Mexican traditional music likemariachi andson , creating the genre called guacarrock (rock andguacamole ). The band was always distinguished by a festive and irreverent musical fusion, celebrating the culture of the nacos and integrating sketches andalbures in its lyrics and concerts. Its style, a simple and direct rock, was combined with lyrics with a good dose of satire that portrayed the routine character of the urban life in Mexico City and elements of their popular culture. In their song "Pinche Malinche", they created the famous phrase "Todo lo naco es chido" (All the naco is cool), trying to re-vindicate the popular culture of the lower socio-economic classes. Botellita de Jeréz pioneered a lot of trends of the
contemporary art ofMexico andUnited States , since it incorporated motifs from the popular use as thelucha libre , popular dances andslang , which are now commonly used among the upper classes as well.Works
