Its seat is the village of Baruchowo, which lies approximately convert|23|km|mi|0 south-east of Włocławek and convert|75|km|mi|0|abbr=on south-east of Toruń.

The gmina covers an area of convert|107.05|km2|sqmi|1, and as of 2006 its total population is 3,644.

The gmina contains part of the protected area called Gostynin-Włocławek Landscape Park.
