Its seat is the village of Lniano, which lies approximately convert|20|km|mi|0 north-west of Świecie and convert|48|km|mi|0|abbr=on north of Bydgoszcz.

The gmina covers an area of convert|88.34|km2|sqmi|1, and as of 2006 its total population is 4,066.

The gmina contains part of the protected area called Wda Landscape Park.
