Its seat is the town of Łasin, which lies approximately convert|21|km|mi|0 east of Grudziądz and convert|63|km|mi|0|abbr=on north-east of Toruń.

The gmina covers an area of convert|136.58|km2|sqmi|1, and as of 2006 its total population is 8,288 (out of which the population of Łasin amounts to 3,276, and the population of the rural part of the gmina is 5,012).
