Simpson played major junior briefly for the
Kingston Canadians and then for four seasons with theOttawa 67's . Drafted by theChicago Blackhawks in the 7th round in the1980 NHL Entry Draft , he played a season with theNew Brunswick Hawks . He then played the following season for theSpringfield Indians , also of the AHL.Simpson joined
Tilburg Trappers in 1983, for whom he played four seasons. In 1988 he joinedRotterdam Panda's . He was theEredivisie 's top scorer in both 1983–4 and 1988–9.In 1989, he joined Nationalliga A side
EHC Olten . He played the following season in Serie A withHC Fiemme Cavalese .As a coach
Simpson was head coach of
DEL sideMunich Barons from 1999 through 2002. He thenHamburg Freezers head coach for 2002–3.References
