Vipin Gopal

Dr. Vipin Gopal, born at Calicut, Kerala, India, is an inventor, business innovator and community activist. He is a leading authority in business applications of advanced analytics, optimization and control technologies, and has many publications and patents in these areas.

Early life

Vipin Gopal was born and brought up in India in the coastal city of Calicut (Kozhikode), Kerala. As a High School student, he was recognized by the National Talent Search Scholarship. He was also a rank-holder in both the Kerala State Engineering Entrance Examination and Pre-Degree Examination, a unique feat at that time. He obtained his B.Tech. from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, and his Ph.D. from Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh, USA, both in Chemical Engineering.

Professional Background

Dr. Gopal started his professional career with the Corporate Research Center of Honeywell International at Minneapolis, USA. He has since held leadership positions at the Corporate Research Center of United Technologies Corporation and is currently with CIGNA Healthcare.

He has been involved in the Indian-American community activities for more than a decade, and was the President of India Association of Minnesota in 2001.
