Lea Nikel (hebrew: לאה ניקל)

(Fact|date=December 20071818- 2005)was an Israeli artist.

Biography

Lea Nikel born in Zhitomir, Ukraine. She emigrated to Israel in 1920 and settled in Tel Aviv. in 1950 she moved to Paris, where she was associated with the School of Paris. In the 60's she moved to New York and after that settled in Rome. she came back to Israel in 1979.

Nikel's work

The peak of Nikel's work is considered to be her abstract paintings; she was influenced by a European version of abstract expressionism called Tachisme, which was a spontaneous brushwork, drips and blobs of paint straight from the tube.
