hotel inSurabaya ,Indonesia . The hotel is located at 65 Jalan Tunjungan. The hotel was founded in 1910 as "Hotel Oranje" byLucas Martin Sarkies . It was named after the historic kingdom ofMajapahit . It was formerly operated by theMandarin Oriental group.During the
Japanese occupation of Indonesia the hotel name was changed to "Yamato Hotel". The hotel was the site of the famous "Insiden Hotel Yamato" (in English "Hotel Yamato incident") in which Indonesian youth revolutionaries tore the blue part of theDutch flag flown in the hotel to change it to theIndonesian flag in the lead up to theBattle of Surabaya .Literature
