The Kininvie Distillery is one of the youngest distilleries in
Scotland , the distillery began production on the 4th July 1990.cite news | first=Jim | last=Murray | coauthors= | title=Tomorrow's malt (Balvnie) | date=1999-01-12 | publisher= | url =http://www.whiskymag.com/magazine/issue1/12004871.html | work =Whisky Magazine | pages = | accessdate = 2007-12-24 | language = ] The distillery, whilst featuring computer controlleddistillation , lacks its own mash house. Mash houses are responsible for producing the liquid needed for fermentation in the washbacks, so the liquid used by the Kininvie Distillery in their washbacks is piped from the Balvenie Distillery some 200 metres away. The distillery presently operates 24 hours per day, 7 days per week to meet demand. The distillery has, to date, released only one
single malt whisky, a limited edition bottling called "Hazelwood 105", which was bottled aged 15 years. cite web|url=http://whiskyfun.com/archivejanuary07-2.html#220107 |title=Whiskyfun January 2007 |accessdate=2007-12-24 ] The output from the Kininvie Distillery is normally used in William Grant & Sons blended whiskies, primarily the "Clan Macgregor" blended whisky, a typical blended whisky featuring a high percentage ofgrain whisky mixed with the single malt from the Kininvie Distillery. cite web|url=http://www.thewhiskyguide.com/Speyside/Kininvie.htm |title=Kininvie Distillery, Speyside, thewhiskyguide.com |accessdate=2007-12-24 ]William Grant & Sons, in 2005, introduced a premium triple
