UK . Her practice encompassesinstallation ,video ,photography , performance andwriting . She describes her art as a kind of "archaeological investigation, uncovering something to make a different kind of sense of it".She was born in
Tallahassee ,Florida in 1940 and studied atSmith College . After graduate work in anthropology atTulane University inNew Orleans she worked as an anthropologist and completed aPh.D in 1965. It was at this time that she became disillusioned with academic anthropology and became an artist.
