- BooM! Records
There are apparently two record labels that have used the name Boom! Records.
The first to use the name Boom Records was
Bert Berns , co-owner ofBang Records . The first release on Boom was in 1966, with a remake of the Bunker Hill tune, "Hide and Seek" (Boom 60000), by The Sheep. The name The Sheep was created by FGG Productions (Bobby Feldman, Gerry Goldstein and Richie Gottehrer) who also createdThe Strangeloves , andThe McCoys .The Sheep consisted of studio musicians in the FGG family, that included, bass player / vocalist, John Shine, guitarist, Jack Raczka, drummer, Tom Kobus, sax player / vocalist, Richie Lauro, keyboardist / vocalist, Ken Jones, and drummer / vocalist, Joe Piazza. In addition to playing as studio musicians for FGG, John Shine, Jack Raczka, Tom Kobus and Rich Lauro performed locally on Staten Island and in New Jersey as the "Four Souls". This foursome recorded a single on the "Sound of England" label - "Girl" and "WOWO". In addition, the same 4 recorded yet another single on the "Event Records" label - "Candy Bar" and "Charlie Chan" using "Staten Island Ferry" as the band name for that one.
Other acts on the short-lived, Berns' owned, Boom! label included Cab Calloway, Dean Parrish, and Bobby Hebb. The Berns' owned Boom label no longer exists.
