Solomon Yambassu (born September 17, 1984 in Freetown, Sierra Leone) is a Sierra Leonean footballer. He is commonly known in Sierra Leone by his nickname Politics. A goalkeeper, he is currently playing for Stade d'Abidjan in Ivory Coast and has played for the Sierra Leone national team. He has previously played for Wellington People F.C. in the Sierra Leone National Premier League, where he was the club choice goalkeeper.

Profile

Yambassu was born and raised in Wellington, a poor neighbohood in the east of Freetown to parents from the Kono ethnic group. He attended the Wesleyan primary school in Wellington. He completed his secondary education at the Congress Boys secondary school in Freetown. During the 1997 Freetown secondary school turnament, Yambassau was voted the best goalkeeper in the turnament, while leading the controversial Congress secondary school to the semi final. Yambassu had also played for several youth clubs throughout the east end of Freetown before he was finally signed by his hometown club the Wellington People F.C. of the Sierra Leone National Premier League.
