The shell is narrower and smaller than "
Maoricolpus roseus roseus ", and has the whorls more tightly coiled. The cords of the peripheral angulation are never as prominent as in "Maoricolpus roseus roseus", resulting in less indented sutures.The shell coloration is yellowish, reddish or purplish brown, faintly marbled or streaked in darker brown.
The shell height is up to 59 mm, and the width is up to 13.5 mm.
