Its seat is the town of Głuszyca, which lies approximately convert|13|km|mi|0 south-east of Wałbrzych, and convert|69|km|mi|0 south-west of the regional capital Wrocław.

The gmina covers an area of convert|61.92|km2|sqmi|1, and as of 2006 its total population is 9,318 (out of which the population of Głuszyca amounts to 6,999, and the population of the rural part of the gmina is 2,319).

Neighbouring gminas

Gmina Głuszyca is bordered by the town of Jedlina-Zdrój and the gminas of Mieroszów, Nowa Ruda and Walim. It also borders the Czech Republic.
