Andreason is known for her cladistic concept of race, first published in 1998, in the paper 'A New Perspective on the Race Debate' in "The British Journal for Philosophy of Science". In this paper, she revived biological racial realism with the view that race can be understood as a natural kind in cladistic systematics if we define it as the set of infraspecific clades within biological species.
