Rutherglen Glencairn F.C.

Rutherglen Glencairn F.C.

Rutherglen Glencairn Football Club are a Scottish football (soccer) club based in Rutherglen, (in the South Lanarkshire local authority area, but part of the Glasgow conurbation). Nicknamed "The Glens" and formed in 1896, they play at New Southcroft Park, after the original Southcroft Park was demolished in 2007 to make way for the M74 motorway extension. The original ground had survived for 110 years and was the oldest junior football ground in Scotland when it closed.

The Glens' most recent trophy success was this season (2007-08) with victory in the Central Sectional League Cup. Glens defeated Port Glasgow 2-1 in the final at Lochburn Park, Glasgow, having come top of the section involving the Glens, Cambuslang Rangers, Blantyre Victoria, East Kilbride Thistle and Vale of Clyde, and then defeating Lanark United in the quarter-final and Arthurlie in the semi-final.

Currently competing in the West Region of the Scottish Junior Football Association, the Glens wear black and white vertically striped strips (uniforms).
