Euro-Cup der Mehl-Mülhens-Stiftung

The Euro-Cup der Mehl-Mülhens-Stiftung is a Group 3 flat horse race in Germany open to thoroughbreds which are three-years-old or above. It is run over a distance of 2,000 metres (approximately 1¼ miles) at Frankfurt Racecourse, Frankfurt, and it takes place annually in September.

From 1988 to 1994 it was run as the Team Trophy der Volksbanken und Raiffeisenbanken. This was initially classed as a Group 3 race and contested over 2,200 metres. It was promoted to Group 2 status in 1989, and the distance was cut to 2,100 metres in 1990, and to 2,000 metres in 1991.

The period from 1995 to 2001 saw a series of title changes, starting with the Made in Europe-Trophy (1995–96) and the Flughafen Frankfurt-Trophy (1997–98). For the next two years, when it was known as the Henninger-Trophy and the Arthur Andersen Euro-Cup, the distance increased slightly to 2,050 metres. There was no comparable race at Frankfurt in 2001, with its place taken by the Preis des Bankhaus Sal. Oppenheim, run at Cologne over 1,850 metres.

The race returned to Frankfurt in 2002 with its present distance, 2,000 metres. At this point it was titled the Ernst & Young Euro-Cup, which was changed to the Merrill Lynch Euro-Cup in 2004. The event was downgraded to Group 3 status in 2007, after eighteen years at Group 2 level. The present title was introduced in 2008.
