- Ein Yahav
Ein Yahav ( _he. עין יהב) is a
moshav inIsrael under the jurisdiction of theCentral Arava Regional Council .It was first settled by members of the agricultural branch of the Army (
Nahal ) in1960 . they set up tents and followed the dictate ofDavid Ben-Gurion to make the desert bloom.There is an ancient copper-smelting site near Ein-Yahav. A small hill with blackened slopes, covered mainly by crushed copper slag, identify the remains of the smelting devices used at the end of the Early Bronze Age for smelting copper.
Today there are approximately 70 families on Ein Yahav.
Geography
The moshav is situated in Israel's Southern Arava Valley, between the
Dead Sea andEilat .Ein-Yahav has an airfield nearby (Airport Code: EIY)
Economics
Agricultural enterprises include raising of cherry tomato, eggplants and production of Aloe Vera.
Matamaon Ba'Arava is a tourist lodging of log cabins located on the moshav.
