Julian Stachiewicz

Brigadier General Julian Stachiewicz (1890-1934) was an officer of the Polish Army, Polish historian and writer. Brother to General Wacław Stachiewicz. Joined the Riflemen's Association before World War I. In the years 1914-1921 he fought in the Polish Legions in World War I, Polish Military Organization, Greater Poland Uprising, Polish-Ukrainian War and Polish-Soviet War. He briefly commanded the Polish 13th Infantry Division and became the head of the Military Bureau of History ("Wojskowe Biuro Historyczne") from 1923, promoted to brigadier general a year later. In 1928 created the Military Historical Review ("Wojskowy Przegląd Historyczny"), a journal that is being published to this day. Involved with Polish Radio, member of academic societies such as the Polish Academy of Learning.

He was awarded the Virtuti Militari (V class), Polonia Restituta (IV and III class), Cross of Independence with Swords and four times the Cross of Valor.
