National Council for Scientific Research inParis . He was appointed as Minister ofIndustry in the Syrian Cabinet in 2000. He and the rest of the Cabinet lost their positions when the government resigned in 2003. Additionally, al-Zaim also held the post of minister of state for planning.Al-Zaim and his wife's
assets were seized by Syrian authorities in 2003 as part of aprobe into the alleged misuse of publicfunds by the couple. He and his wife were acquitted of all charges a few months later.Issam al-Zaim died of a
heart attack at the age of 67 and was buried inAleppo . He was survived by his wife and son.External links
