Anne Preven is a US songwriter and musician, originally from
New York .Anne Preven started playing classical music at age 5, but gave it up as a teenager. She is a
Harvard graduate and began writing songs while a student there. She was the lead singer in the LA bandsEdnaswap andAnnetenna , the former band name coming to her in a dream, but is best known for her songwriting. With songwriting partnerScott Cutler , she wrote the Ednaswap song "Torn " that was later covered by Australian actress/singerNatalie Imbruglia , wrote "Sanctuary" for Madonna, and wrote and producedSinéad O'Connor 's "No Man's Woman". She also co-wrote "Listen", withBeyonce Knowles who sung it in the 2006 film "Dreamgirls", for which she received anAcademy Award nomination on January 23, 2007. Sinéad O'Connor also covered "The State I'm In ," which was initially written for Ednaswap.Anne Preven recently co-wrote "Start All Over" for Miley Cyrus.
Also wrote "Whatever it takes" recorded by Tom Morello on his solo work "The Fabled City".
