Bitlis is a province of eastern Turkey, located to the west of Lake Van. Ethnic Kurds form the majority of the population. [ [http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/world/war/images/dist-kurdish.gifDistribution of Kurdish People] — GlobalSecurity.org] The provincial capital is the town of Bitlis.
